MORNING MEDITATION AND FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
Mark 4:35; 5:1 They made it over to the other side as Jesus originally said to them to. He emphatically said, “Let us pass over to the other side.” Jesus gave the assurance by His command that the destination was going to be to the other side of the sea from where they were. They happily went not anticipating anything other than taking a boat ride to the other side. In their minds it was a simple task, after all, they were accustom to taking boat rides. They did make it to the other side, but from point A to point B, there was turbulence, danger, fear and stress. Sometimes in our Christian journey from point A to point B, we will experience hinderances, troubles, fears, doubts and crisis that make us wonder where is the Lord. The Lord is ever present, just quietly observing us and our responses to the atmospheric conditions (spiritually speaking) around us. He’s waiting patiently near by. He knows when to say, “Peace Be Still”, to our storms. He’s the master of the sea, winds and waves. The length of our trials are determined by Him for the testing of our faith and for the spiritual growth that is needed. It is also His desire that we see His face more clearly and distinctly in every situation. The disciples saw him on the boat sleeping calmly and quietly while they were in despair of their lives and questioned if He even cared that they could die in the situation. Jesus addressed their fears and their lack of faith and then brought an end to the turbulence. Sometimes we feel stranded by the Lord God in the midst of severe trials and difficulties. The length of time that He chooses to leave us there brings great concern and fear because in our finite minds the prolonging of the situation could only lead to more devastation with a negative end. Faith allows us to take on God’s perspective and hold firm in the midst of hard times. Faith will reminds us that we are not alone no matter how bad things get or how far things go. Faith will carry us through the storm and we will reach the other side, it just may not be via the way we had in mind.
